RISING STAR FROM ILOILO LAUNCHES REMAKE OF VEHNEE SATURNO CLASSIC

Ysabelle Palabrica, an aspiring young artist from Iloilo City, never imagined that at 15, she would make her dream come true to record not just any song but a special one composed by a renowned songwriter. On April 17, the lovely lass launched a remake of the Vehnee Saturno classic, "Kaba," which was turned into a hit in the '90s by Tootsie Guevarra.

Held at the iconic Music Box in Timog, Saturno himself attended Palabrica's special day. The new recording artist also received strong support from her parents, Bingawin City of Iloilo Mayor Mark Palabrica and her equally elegant mother, JeAn Magno Palabrica.

Despite the successful launch, Palabrica still cannot believe she now has a Saturno single to her name, just like OPM greats Martin Nivera ("Be My Lady"), Sarah Geronimo ("Forever's Not Enough"), Jaya ("Dahil Tanging Ikaw") and Ariel Rivera ("Sana Kahit Minsan") among others.

"I'm super happy, shocked," Palabrica gushed in her lilting Ilongo voice during a media conference the same afternoon.

Asked how her journey to recording began, she excitedly replied, "I've loved singing, acting, and even pretending to model since childhood. I guess I'm the family member they see with a showbiz inclination and obviously my parents noticed."

While she and her parents are still working out how the family's performer will pursue her career in the capital when their lives are so entrenched in Iloilo, her dad, Mayor Mark, put his foot down on one certainty.

"Ysabelle must not neglect her studies," he declared, to which his obedient daughter promised, "I can balance school and my singing [career] because I have my manager, Audie Ochagabia, director Obette Serrano, and Maestro Vehnee guiding me."

Within days, Palabrica proved to her father that she does have a stellar and efficient management team helping her make everything work.

For, on April 21, she already mounted her debut concert titled "Awit Ng Panahon: Noon At Ngayon" at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

The event, presented in cooperation with Pro Entertainment Production and Mallillin's Music Production, even reflected the Palabricas' commitment to public service since all proceeds collected benefited the residents of Anawim Home for the Abandoned Elderly.

Moreover, the show was not the typical newbie's first concert, given the support of stellar guests like father-daughter Hajji and Rachel Alejandro, Gino Padilla, TNT's Geof Taylor, Arabelle Dela Cruz and Rachel Gabreza and Kriz Lawrence.

Moving forward, Palabrica's management is keeping her busy on her new YouTube show, "Krazy-x You," which will ensure her visibility while she is back in Iloilo to finish the school year.

Directed by Serrano from a concept by See, the channel is geared at entertaining the singer's fellow teens and promises lots of fun interaction, as well as more of Palabrica's fresh sound.
